After a nearly 8 week break from Color, the 3vent and TCR crew we were back into action at Cairns this weekend. In a similar setup to the Perth event, the course was set along the picturesque esplanade of the Cairns foreshore with the finish festival taking place in Fogarty Park, opposite the pier.
The typical Cairns weather (sunny and hot one minute, pouring rain the next) luckily didn’t get in our way too much and a comfortable 24 degrees made it a great temperature for all runners to ‘get their color on’. No-one had anticipated that a Hospital Helicopter would be landing right in the middle of our event, which meant we had to stop the race for a couple of minutes, but our crew capably switched to ‘problem-solving mode’ and were able to manage the situation as smooth as possible.
All up a great event where over 7,500 party people had a ball!
A unique American concept by origin, The Color Run (TCR) is focused on fun instead of performance. It’s all about music, colour and madness as runners make their way through the 5km run, being bombarded with a different colour powder every kilometer to finish into an even bigger colour mania called the Finish Festival. Here, the runners get a chance to drench themselves, and everyone else, in even more colour by throwing their own colour packets around, all the while dancing and singing along to the latest tunes being played on the main stage by a DJ.
