On 29 Feb 2020, the City of Gold Coast hosted the inaugural Street Beats event. Held in Nerang Street Mall in Southport, Street Beats celebrated all things Street Culture!
The street was jam-packed with activities including live Motor Cross stunt shows, live beatbox and breakdance battles, live music, live graffiti art, Parkour, basketball and a ninja obstacle for the kids.
Crowds swarmed over the battle arena to see the best beatboxers and breakdancers on the coast battle it out to take out the title of Gold Coasts champions!
The local businesses in the area all worked together to provide activations within their businesses. With Simple Coffee bringing in coffee and crognut stand, Swannies putting on a face painter and holding the official after-party and the new local youth school MOB running the basketball activation.
For a first-time event in a new space, Street Beats stood out as the new street culture event for the Gold Coast. We look forward to hopefully seeing it become an annual event for the local Southport community.
Our Role
3vent worked with the City of Gold Coast to manage the operational logistics for the event. As a first-time event, the planning that went into it was extensive and included:
- Researching and presenting event concepts
- Sourcing suitable street art activations
- Organising all the entertainment and stage acts
- Preparing all safety documentation and risk management plans
- Creation of site layouts
- Organising F&B vendors
On event day, the 3vent team managed the bump in and out and running of the event, including the stage management.
