On Saturday 12 October it was time for the very first event of the brand-new City of Gold Coast CBD District events calendar. Dubbed MOONLIGHT NIGHT, it was an event full of lights, glow and incredible entertainment.
The torrential rain leading up to the event certainly didn’t make our jobs easy but luckily it didn’t deter the crowds with an estimated 6,000 – 7,000 people attending the event.
The two Baby Shark stage shows were a huge hit with the kids and later on the adults got to enjoy the tunes of The Oogars, The Steele Syndicate and Lisa Hunt – with many dancing the early night away.
Alongside a jam-packed stage schedule there was kids’ activities galore – glow light face painting, a UV Tunnel to admire their artwork, lantern making arts & crafts and fun inflatables to take photos with.
A giant 6m inflatable moon certainly was the photo-op of the night with hundreds throughout the night posing to have their pics taken.
Lion Dancers performances were on every hour, a beautiful glow fairy strode throughout the event site and with glow furniture in the event bar area the Chinatown precinct was lit up once again.
Many food stalls sold out of food which is always a good sign and with local traders doing well as well, everyone was happy.
All in all, a great success for the City of Gold Coast!
Our Role
3vent has been contracted by the City of Gold Coast as the Event Manager to execute their annual event calendar for 2019/2020 – consisting of 5 major events around the Chinatown precinct. Our role is to organise and manage the event operations of each event.
For Moonlight Night this included organising all event infrastructure and services (stage, sound, lighting, toilets, furniture, light show, UV Tunnel, and many more), organising on-stage and off-stage entertainment, sourcing and managing stallholders, traffic management, and electrical contracting.
Our team created all the plans required to hold the event including, Event Management Plan, Emergency Evacuation Plan, Risk Management Plan, Wet Weather Plan, and all WHS documentation like SWMS and SOP’s.
On event day we managed the complete event site, from bump-in through to bump-out, including supplier management, stallholder placement, stage management, entertainment briefings and staff management.
Due to the weather, we also had to implement some on-the-spot entertainment alternatives in case it would be too wet for the stage performances to go ahead.
