Part of the state-wide celebrations of Queensland Week in honour of the anniversary of the independence of our great state, Surfers Paradise hosted a Beach Picnic – a day of free family entertainment on Surfers Paradise Beach highlighting and celebrating our state’s rich history.
The day was filled with activities such as historical re-enactments and performances from the children of Surfers Paradise State School, life saving demonstrations and a helicopter rescue by Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club, live entertainment from Aussie humourist Errol Gray, free face painting, market stalls, and of course a delicious Beach BBQ. There were also casual games of free Backyard Beach Cricket and Beach Volleyball for the public to participate in, which turned out to be a popular way to spend the Sunday afternoon ones the sun came through.
