The annual Flavors of Metro Street Party was set to be a great event yet again in 2018 but then… Mother Nature turned on us! The heavy rain leading into the event and the huge storms predicted for event day minimised crowds immensely. The event went ahead as planned and luckily we never received 1 drop of the predicted rain/storms it!
A collaboration between Australia Fair Metro and the City of Gold Coast, this event usually attracts around a 10,000 strong crowd to the Gold Coast Chinatown precinct. This year the popular Gold Coast-based band Tijuana Cartel was headlining the event, but due to the rain predictions they, unfortunately, did not attract the crowds.
Held in Davenport St, Young St and Davison Lane, the event brought life to the Coast Chinatown precinct and its local traders. A large stage hosted live entertainment from 5pm, Davenport Street was lined with quality food and beverage stalls and Davison Lane was full of life with an event bar and live entertainment rocking it out! The arts and crafts and face painting tent was extremely popular as per usual and the chalk art was a hit! Unfortunately, all other kids entertainment pulled out due to the rain predicted but the ever-popular ping pong tables took their place and were well-used.
