The City of Gold Coast’s Australia Day Celebrations is one of the Gold Coast’s favourite events and it’s not hard to see why. Bursting with everything Australian, the free one-day event included three (3) stages filled with music, comedy, cooking and children’s shows, rides and attractions, face painting, wood chopping, pig races, camel riding, sheep shearing, damper making, and much much more. The Wheel of Death was the main attraction this year and was by far one of the crowd favourites, helping to make the 26th consecutive year one of the best yet. The crowd cheered on as a daredevil performed stunts on a large rotating apparatus.
The weather turned it on for the majority of the day, with a little bit of rain toward the afternoon. Like true Australians, this did not dampen the spirit of event goers. Some even jumped under the big inflatable misting tents while dancing along to the acts on the main stage. An estimated 15,000 proud Aussie’s along with their friends and families came along to enjoy the festivities and take part in all of the great things our country has to offer. The day was a huge success with exhausted event goers leaving with fully bellies, and even bigger smiles.
This was the third year 3vent Productions was appointed by the City of Gold Coast to look after the operations of the complete event . This entailed organisation of and supply of event infrastructure, stage acts, kids’ entertainment, expo stalls, Aussie demonstrations and competitions, installation of all signage and infrastructure, event staffing and site management.
