With the original Logan City Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon race being cancelled due to wet weather back in April 2012, this event became the un-official last event of the Weet-Bix Series.
In the early hours of Sunday 24 June Brisbane kids and families gathered at the Lowe Oval and Springwood Aquatic Centre to sign up and start their TRYathlon with a swim at the Aquatic Centre, ahead of their ride surrounding the venue and run on the specially designed Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon course on Lowe Oval.
With smaller numbers than the original sign up for April the day still turned out to be great success with World Champion Surfer Steph Gilmore and a hand full of other Weet-Bix ambassadors cheering for the participants who all gave their best in the non-competitive race.
The Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is a non-competitive event staged as a community engagement program to assist kids develop a great sense of self esteem, a balance of lifestyle fitness with some fun in participation in Australia’s largest Kids TRYathlon. The TRYathlon is conducted along the lines of an adult triathlon, IE: Swim, ride and run in one event and is suitable for kids aged 7 – 15 years of age.
