After months of planning, preparation and logistics, we pulled off the first ever inaugural Australian Run for Your Lives. Run for Your Lives, held on September 5th, is a 5km obstacle infestation of zombies against civilians in a bulrush revolution. The day was underway when just fewer than 4,000 participants joined us at Western Sydney Park lands to experience a real life zombie apocalypse. The option was theirs to be either a zombie or runner. Runners had to make it through the spawn of the dead with their 3 life tags whilst combating 8 obstacles which included a Blood Pit, Electric Smokehouse Shock, Limb by Limb, Holy Trap, Jump Fence, The Slide, Laser Grid and the Finish Fence; until they were considered a ‘survivor’ at the safe zone where they received a medal and shirt for their efforts.
The transformation into zombies began the morning of the event, then the clan were transported out on course to let the revenge begin.
The weather was great and the sun was out to play for the adventurous action packed day, which was the first of its kind. The team had an action filled week and made Sydney Western Park lands a lot more scarier executing this event. As Run for Your Lives is a part apocalypse, part festival event with a live DJ on the main stage from the period 9am – 5pm, it was definitely an event to remember!
