Lined up as the third major event of the Surfers Paradise Festival 2012, One Way Street Party was again a melting pot of art, fashion and music. Groovy bands, vintage clothing and cutting edge cultural expression – the laneway-style street event transformed out-of-the-way Appel Street into a showcase of the Gold Coast’s sharpest musical and artistic tacks.
The twist on last year’s set-up was the inclusion of Neal Shannon Park in the event area. With a large stage, various food and snack stalls and beer and wine bars, the park was a big hit with the general public and created a great atmosphere despite the chilly weather which set in towards dusk.
SipFest, replacing the ‘Shorts on the Green’ event from the 2011 Surfers Paradise Festival, was introduced as well to entertain the Park visitors after dark as a variety of short movies played on an inflatable big screen, alternated by live music on the stage in scheduled breaks.
