The popular annual Netball event “Netfest’ was held from 4 – 7 October. After having been involved in the creation of the event back in 2012 and 2013 3vent is stoked to be back again on the management team! 

Traditionally held on the Gold Coast, Netfest has now relocated to a new home on the Sunshine Coast. Over 2,000 players competed in traditional netball, fast 5’s and social beach netball, across four days and two venues at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex and Moolloolaba beach.

The weekend was plagued by torrential rain, but even that didn’t keep the teams away! Only at the beach was play ceased for a short half hour while a lightning storm came through and closed the beach – the rest of the events continued as planned.

Despite the rain, the energy was still there and Netfest lived up to it’s festival vibe by offering celeb appearance from Catherine Cox, Sharelle McMahon & Sue Gaudian, a family fun day with free kids rides and face painting, Netfit competitions and giveaways and most importantly some quality netball for spectators and players to enjoy.

The new venues provided a few challenges with high winds but came through with the goods with 23 first class courts at Maroochydore and a stunning beach backdrop behind the 4 beach courts at Mooloolaba. Special thanks to Netball Australia, Sunshine Coast Council and Tourism & Events QLD for taking the event to the Sunshine Coast.

Our Role

3vent were contracted to, in conjunction with Netball Australia, event manage the operations for both venues. This includes liaising with sponsors and suppliers, sourcing event services including AV, cleaners and security, as well as creating sitemaps and WHS documents. A team of 6 hard working 3vent staff set up and packed down all signage and infrastructure for both venues and were onsite on each competition day to manage the day to day activities of the festival.
